H2S Gas Report

Hydrogen sulfide gas (H2S) can be a harmful environmental condition in wastewater pipe. H2S gas forms sulfuric acid when concentrations exceed approximately 2.0 ppm and causes corrosion on many underground construction materials and is particularly devastating to concrete and steel.

The H2S Gas Report provides information that can help determine the source of sulfuric acid corrosion. The corrosion data in the laser report quantifies the effects of the sulfuric acid, and the sediment data indicates the source of the hydrogen sulfide gas. RedZone's multi-sensor inspection technology provides a more complete understanding of your pipe infrastructure.

Temperature
Temperature can accelerate chemical corrosion due to sulfuric acid.  Warmer climates - southern US cities, for example - have more corrosion problems. RedZone includes a graph of the air temperature of the pipe within the H2S Gas Report.

Combined with the sonar and laser report information, the H2S Gas report can help locate the sediment that is causing the downstream corrosion.
