3D Laser Report

RedZone's 3D spinning range laser provides highly-accurate pipe inside diameter measurements that reveal pipe corrosion and ovality deviations, even in large diameter sewer pipe.  The Laser report enables decision-making that can generate substantial cost savings for owners of wastewater pipe by:

• Verifying quality of new construction (as-built vs. specification)
• Showing early signs of pipe degradation by corrosion
• Providing exact geometric dimensions for rehabilitation options
• Assisting with detailed design and location determination for cost effective remedial actions

Superior to Laser Profiling
CCTV can be used to detect corrosion, but it becomes noticeable and detectable only after significant material has been lost. Some municipalities project a profiling laser on the inside pipe surface and record the laser reflections during the CCTV inspections. This approach provides marginal improvement in corrosion detection and still requires interpretation by the camera operator.

RedZone's 3D spinning range laser technology captures and analyzes laser reflection data in complete darkness, with no reliance on CCTV. Images are captured as a laser point cloud of an entire segment of the pipe. Analysis software generates precise measurements of the pipe's inside diameter in real time, fed with gyroscopic positioning data from the robot’s inertia measurement unit (IMU) which tracks and records its pitch, yaw, and roll.

Detect Corrosion
The laser report provides a variety of detailed graphs and images to illustrate the location, severity, and shape of the corrosion and ovality abnormalities.

• Pipe cross sections at specific locations
• "Dewarped" 3D image of how much the pipe inside diameter deviates from the as designed/as-built geometry
