The Reactor Inspection System is a 3 degree of freedom manipulator mounted to an extending mast. The system was designed to deploy visual inspection cameras into the main inlet and outlet piping of shipboard nuclear reactor vessels. The system is operated from a remote control station and the operator is able to position the cameras at any location for weld seam inspection. Since the system is operated submerged, all actuators are located above the water line, with torque transmission tubes to the various joints.
