Fred is a small mobile vehicle designed and built for inspection of the feeder cabinet of Candu style reactors for Ontario Hydro. The device traverses an existing catwalk and uses its extending arm to perform a visual inspection of the pipes and hangers to check for vibration wear. The vehicle is controlled from a suitcase type control station located outside of the feeder cabinet. The system was successfully deployed to perform inspections.
